Episode 15: MDMA and PTSD
In this week’s episode, Dave and Lee talk about MDMA and its potential uses in treating chronic and severe PTSD. We begin by examining the physiological effects of MDMA (aka Molly/Ecstasy) on the user. We then talk about how its structure dictates its function in term of how it impacts the brain. We talk about neurotransmitters, presynaptic neurons, and postsynaptic neurons in the context of neuronal communication and drug use. We then turn our attention to the signs and symptoms of PTSD. Finally, we give details on the current studies and clinical trials data on the treatment of PTSD with MDMA. We give quotes, some data, and our opinions on the use of psychoactive drugs in the treatment of the disease.
