Climate Science: “The Science behind Climate Change” S2 E2
In this week’s episode, Dave and Nate take on the science behind Climate Science (we also talk McGregor vs Mayweather and Game of Thrones)! We take a look at how scientists use climate modeling to come to their conclusions about the reality of climate change. We tackle the underlying science that the models are predicated upon. In this analysis, we examine the shortcomings of the individual models, however, we also relay how these individual pitfalls are overcome by examining them in light of the entirety of the field’s models. Further, our presentation includes the breakdown of how Global Climate Models are built from individual cells of the globe to the overall picture of the world. We talk about how these models are built up from interacting, individual cells of the globe. These cells have physics equations that correlate to different types of parameters such as water vapor, ice coverage, solar output, radiation energy emission of the earth, etc. These cells all interact with one another to give a totality of all of the cells of the globe. We bring in an economic view of climate change, and how it would be easier to invest into new technologies rather than wait until its too late.
